Raytheon has completed a $50-million expansion of its manufacturing facility in Mississippi.
The 17,000-square-foot (1,579-square-meter) addition at the company's Forest, Mississippi, site expands the facility to 445,000 square feet (41,341 square meters) and is expected to create 100 high-skilled jobs by 2028.
Raytheon said the new space will support production, testing, and integration of airborne electronic warfare systems and radar programs.
This expansion is the company's third at the Forest facility, bringing its total capital investment at the site to $280 million. Earlier projects included a 20,000-square-foot (1,858-square-meter) addition in 2013 and a 50,000-square-foot (4,645-square-meter) radar production and testing facility completed in 2020.
“Together with state and local partners, we're building the workforce, infrastructure and capabilities needed to boost production in support of critical national defense programs,” Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, said.
Expansion Supports Jammer Production
Much of the new capacity will support production, testing, and integration of Raytheon's Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) pods for the US Navy and Australian government.
The NGJ-MB is an airborne electronic attack system carried by the EA-18G Growler. It uses digital, software-based technologies and electronically scanned arrays to disrupt, deny, and degrade enemy air defense and ground communications systems.
In April, the system was adapted for installation on tactical vehicles and surface ships, with modifications to extend its electronic warfare capabilities across multiple domains.
It reached initial operational capability in December 2024, and the navy said an EA-18G Growler squadron deployed with the NGJ-MB aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln during a five-month deployment in 2025.
