The US Space Force has selected York Space Systems to compete for task orders under the National Space Test and Training contract.

The US Space Force has selected York Space Systems to compete for task orders under the National Space Test and Training Complex Innovative Technology and Engineering (NITE-STAR) contract. 

Managed by Space Systems Command’s Operational Test and Training Infrastructure organization, the program will develop live and simulated ranges to test space systems and train personnel to operate in contested environments.

Under future task orders, York could combine its satellite platforms with the global ground-station network operated by its subsidiary, ATLAS Space Operations, to provide integrated space and ground capabilities.

York builds satellites for government and commercial customers and has a backlog of more than 100 spacecraft. 

The company is preparing to launch 21 satellites for the Space Development Agency and has tested an optical communications link with spacecraft built by another manufacturer.

York has also attended government industry days for the proposed $185-billion Golden Dome missile-defense system, where potential architectures for space-based interceptor constellations and their integration with ground infrastructure have been discussed.

NITE-STAR Test and Training Program

NITE-STAR is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a combined ceiling of $981 million over two five-year periods.

The ceiling applies to the entire program with 15 selected companies competing for individual task orders as requirements emerge.

Alongside York, the selected companies are Amentum, BAE Systems, Boeing, CACI, Firefly Aerospace, L3Harris Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Pacific Crest Alliance, Parsons, Redwire, Rocket Lab, Sierra Space, and Viasat.
