ESAD-50 is an electronic safety arming device, featuring a compact form factor, four dedicated boards managing safety, arming, and firing, and an onboard IMU to monitor motion.
EDGE subsidiary ADVANCED CONCEPTS is moving munition safety into the digital realm with the ESAD-50, an electronic safety arming device built to replace mechanical safeties with software-defined control.
Designed for munitions of 50mm caliber and above, the compact unit measures just 50mm in diameter and 100mm in height.
It uses an onboard Inertial Measurement Unit to track acceleration, rotation, and overall flight behavior, building a detailed motion profile before arming is permitted.
