Netanyahu and Plenkovic agree to promote Israeli F-16s in Croatia

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Croatian Andrej Plenkovic agreed to promote the sale of Israel's F-16D Barak II fighter jets to Croatia, according to media reports.

Netanyahu and Plenkovic agreed to the push at a meeting at the economic forum in Davos, The Jerusalem Post reported on Friday citing the Israeli prime minister's spokesperson.

Israel is one of two contenders for sale of fighter jets to Croatia, alongside Sweden, which is promoting JAS 39 Gripen fighters. The United States and Greece also bid on the tender but, according to reports, the offers were deemed too expensive or outdated.

Croatia is aiming to replace its aging Mikoyan MiG-21s.
