The Nigerian Army has awarded Arizona-based MD Helicopters a contract to supply 12 Cayuse Warrior Plus scout/attack helicopters.
The aircraft are expected to bolster counter-terrorism and insurgency missions across the African country.
The company will deliver spares, flight training devices, logistics support, and aircrew training with the choppers.
The contract features an option to procure up to 36 Cayuse helicopters.
Ramping Up Production
MD Helicopters will increase its production capabilities to support the agreement.
The effort includes reconstructing the company’s manufacturing facility and increasing personnel to more than 120.
The revamp will reinforce other MD Helicopters projects, including large aircraft programs and strategic business initiatives.

Nigeria’s Future Cayuse Fleet
The Nigerian Army’s future Cayuse Warrior Plus will be based on the original Cayuse Warrior chopper.

Once completed, the future fleet will perform tactical missions such as reconnaissance convoy escort, field security, and drug interdiction.
