Oman has chosen Indra's Lanza three-dimensional (3D) long-range radars to enhance the Royal Air Force of Oman’s capabilities.

The project includes the design, delivery, and installation of fixed-site Lanza 3D-LRR radars and radio voice communication systems, along with their integration into the command-and-control network.

With the complete package, the acquisition aims to boost the Gulf country's capacity to independently carry out advanced, third-level radar maintenance.

Features

The Lanza 3D-LRR is a long-range radar system built with modular air surveillance and tracking components.

The radar detects and tracks aircraft within a range of 5 to 256 nautical miles (9 to 474 kilometers/6 to 295 miles) and up to 100,000 feet (30,480 meters) in altitude.

It completes a full rotation every 10 seconds, providing constant situational awareness.

The system integrates with Secondary Surveillance Radar, collecting data from aircraft transponders and Identification Friend or Foe technology, which helps distinguish friendly from unknown or hostile targets.

This combined setup allows it to identify and track targets at the same time. If one system fails, the other continues to operate without losing functionality or accuracy.

Latest Contracts

Spanish company Indra supplies various radar systems for clients worldwide, tailored for land, air, and naval operations.

Earlier this year, the Spanish Armed Forces deployed Indra’s LTR 25 long-range radar system in Romania to support NATO operations on the eastern front.

In 2023, the European defense firm began installing a naval version of its Lanza 3D surveillance radar on an Indian Navy vessel.
