Canadian defense contractor Draganfly has signed an agreement to acquire assets of Skip Dynamix’s drone business in a deal worth up to $7.5 million, expanding its portfolio of low-cost unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for military and security missions.
The deal combines Draganfly’s autonomy software, artificial intelligence, and military integration capabilities with Skip Dynamix’s rapidly manufactured drone designs, enabling flexibility across border and maritime surveillance, communications relay, and swarming applications.
Among the buyout’s highlights is the integration of the Virginia company’s Orca fixed-wing UAS into Draganfly’s existing lineup.
The drone is designed for long-range intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, electronic warfare support, logistics, and one-way strikes.
Offering ‘Core’ Solutions
Draganfly said the move will strengthen its position with NATO-aligned customers and defense programs seeking modern UAS for complex domains.
“The battlefield lessons emerging from Ukraine, the Middle East, and evolving Indo-Pacific security planning are clear: survivable mass, low-cost autonomy, long-range [intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance], and systems are becoming core operational requirements,” said Cameron Chell, CEO of Draganfly.
“Skip Dynamix gives Draganfly a highly scalable platform capable of addressing this rapidly expanding global demand.”
Finalized by 2026
The purchase includes $2.5 million in cash at closing, $2.5 million in Draganfly shares tied to founder retention conditions, and up to $2.5 million in additional payments linked to performance milestones.
Skip Dynamix founders Jonathan Baron and Andrew Chapman will remain with the company after the deal closes, which Draganfly expects in early June 2026.
