iGov has advanced to the second phase of the US Marine Corps’ Electromagnetic Warfare Ground Instrumented Range prototyping program.
iGov Technologies has advanced to the second phase of the US Marine Corps’ Electromagnetic Warfare Ground Instrumented Range (EWGIR) prototyping program.
The decision followed an evaluation of the company’s initial prototype, including a live-range demonstration, operator feedback, and compliance with the program’s technical requirements.
During Phase 1, iGov demonstrated electronic support, wideband spectrum sensing, and signal geolocation capabilities.
Its prototype also uses an open application programming interface architecture intended to exchange data with current and future Marine Corps training systems.
The five-month second phase will focus on developing these technologies into a fully functional prototype.
Completion could make iGov eligible for Phase 3 and a subsequent production opportunity, but the company has not yet received a production contract.
Training Under Electromagnetic Disruption
Managed by the US Marine Corps’ Program Manager for Training Systems, EWGIR is being developed to reproduce contested electromagnetic conditions during live exercises.
The system will allow Marines to train when communications, Global Positioning System signals, and other capabilities are affected by jamming, spoofing, or other disruptions.
It will also provide instrumentation and feedback for electromagnetic spectrum operations training.
EWGIR will be integrated into the US Marine Corps’ broader Live, Virtual, and Constructive Training Environment, which connects field exercises with simulators and computer-generated scenarios.
The service plans to use the Joint Live Virtual Constructive federation to link these different components and support functions such as exercise recording, replay, observation, and after-action review.
