Lockheed Martin has secured a $1.13-billion contract to produce M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) for the US and five allied countries.
The contract, awarded by the US Army, covers the full-rate production of rocket launchers intended for the US Army and US Marine Corps, as well as Australia, Canada, Estonia, Sweden, and Taiwan via foreign military sales.
Work will take place at different locations depending on each order, and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2028.

HIMARS first gained major visibility in Ukraine due to its long-range precision strikes, “shoot-and-scoot” survivability, and effectiveness against command posts, logistics, and artillery.
Following that, several countries, like Australia, selected the US-made rocket launcher to enhance long-range strike capabilities.
Canberra previously ordered up to 42 units and received its first HIMARS in March 2025.
Canada, meanwhile, is set to receive and operate the rocket launchers for the first time.
Within Europe, Estonia ordered three more HIMARS in April, while Sweden’s request for 20 HIMARS and associated munitions was approved in March. This reinforces NATO’s long-range strike deterrence against peer threats.
Finally, Taiwan recently unveiled weapons procurement contracts with the US, including HIMARS orders for $3.9 billion.
