Motorola, Nokia to Build Next-Gen Tactical Comms Network for UK Forces

Motorola Solutions has teamed up with Nokia to create a new container-based tactical communications network for UK forces and other defense agencies.

The system merges Motorola’s Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) solutions with Nokia’s AirScale 5G technology, aiming to provide flexible, rapidly deployable comms. The setup can reportedly become operational in under 30 minutes.

At the heart of the network is Motorola’s Silvus MANET tech, which extends coverage across rugged terrain and enables AI-powered links between units, including uncrewed systems equipped with long-range video sensors.
