Raytheon has merged mid-wave infrared sensing and event-based imaging to develop a “first-of-its-kind” camera system that catches changes in heat signatures down to the pixel level.
Raytheon has merged mid-wave infrared sensing and event-based imaging to develop a “first-of-its-kind” camera system that catches changes in heat signatures down to the pixel level.
The tech was recently demonstrated in California, where it successfully tracked a range of targets, from ground vehicles and aircraft to live fire activity.
Unlike conventional systems that process full image frames, the camera only flags changes as they occur, cutting out redundant data and allowing faster, more efficient tracking of dynamic scenes.
