Saronic Introduces ‘Mirage’ and ‘Cipher’ Autonomous Surface Vessels

Texas-based startup Saronic Technologies has expanded its autonomous surface vessel (ASV) line with two models: the “Mirage” and the “Cipher.”

The Mirage measures 40 feet (12 meters) long and can carry 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms) with a range of over 2,000 nautical miles (2,301 miles/3,704 kilometers).

Meanwhile, the 60-foot (18-meter)-long Cipher has a carrying capacity five times larger than the Mirage and has a range of more than 3,000 nautical miles (3,452 miles/5,556 kilometers).

Both can run at speeds exceeding 35 knots (64 kilometers/40 miles per hour). 

Like their fellow vessels designed for scalability, they have the same autonomy stack and feature a modular open systems architecture, enabling their use in multi-mission military applications and commercial purposes, such as logistics and harbor operations.

These vessels come about a week after Saronic unveiled its 150-foot (45 meters)-long “Marauder” ASV. 

Altogether, the Mirage, Cipher, and Marauder join existing drone boats of varying dimensions: the 24-foot (7.31-meter) Corsair, the 14-foot (4.2-meter) Cutlass, and the 6-foot (1.8-meter) Spyglass.

“The future of maritime dominance depends on the rapid adoption of these technologies — and achieving that future will require a diverse range of ASVs, from small vessels to larger systems designed to support existing and emerging critical mission needs,” said company CEO Dino Mavrookas.
