The US Army has selected SRC’s artillery-shell-delivered modular electronic and cyber warfare payload for its xTech competition.

The US Army has selected SRC’s artillery-shell-delivered modular electronic and cyber warfare payload for its xTech competition for emerging technology innovators, inviting the company to demonstrate the system.

SRC is one of six winners of the US Army FUZE xTech program, run in partnership with the Joint Innovation Outpost and the 101st Airborne Division. 

Its system, Silent Impact, is designed for stratospheric deployment from altitudes of 6 to 31 miles (10 to 50 kilometers), delivering long-range electromagnetic effects in contested environments where conventional systems have limited reach. 

"This recognition reflects SRC's continued focus on delivering innovative, mission-relevant capabilities that align with the Army's evolving operational needs," President and CEO of SRC Kevin Hair said.

"Our Silent Impact family of systems are rooted in decades of experience in electronic warfare and small form factor systems, and we are excited about its potential to provide scalable, non-kinetic effects in support of distributed operations."

Artillery-Delivered

Silent Impact is capable of delivering cyber electromagnetic attack payloads, combining electronic warfare (jamming or spoofing radio frequencies) with cyber warfare techniques (network infiltration) to disrupt adversary systems.

Delivered via a standard 155mm artillery shell, the payload deploys in-flight using parachutes to remain aloft for extended durations or operate after landing.

It also provides non-traditional intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities to detect and exploit adversary networks in contested environments.

As a next step in the FUZE xTech program, SRC will demonstrate Silent Impact to the 101st Airborne Division and Department of Defense stakeholders during “Week of the Eagles” at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, ahead of future US Army experimentation events. 

The FUZE xTech program identifies and accelerates dual-use technologies that enhance soldier readiness and mission effectiveness while enabling industry engagement with army stakeholders and pathways to operational transition.
