US Army to Deploy ‘Dark Eagle’ Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon This Year: Report

The US Army is set to operationalize its “Dark Eagle” long-range hypersonic weapon (LRHW) this year, marking the end of prolonged delays caused by repeated testing failures.

The development was highlighted in a recent US congressional report, confirmed by a defense official to Defense News.

According to the report, the ground-based LRHW will be handed over to the first unit by the end of fiscal year 2025. It is unclear, however, if the army will push through with its original plan of fielding it first to the 1st Multi-Domain Task Force at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.
