xReality Group has finalized a 5.6-million Australian dollar ($3.9 million) contract with the US Department of Defense and secured the first sale of its new MR-1 mixed reality training platform to another Pentagon customer.
The 20-month initial project tasked xReality’s defense and law enforcement simulation segment Operator XR with developing an immersive military training capability.
The resulting prototype passed the final acceptance evaluation and received formal approval from the customer and end users after being completed on schedule and within budget.
xReality Group expects to receive the remaining 850,000-Australian-dollar ($607,015) payment under the framework before the end of June.
Work for the initiative was delivered in partnership with North Carolina-based Acrolect Solutions LLC, doing business as Endurance Group.
‘Multiplier Effect’
The technology developed under the contract has since been commercialized through the launch of MR-1, built specifically for defense and security users.
It integrates mixed reality headsets, simulated weapons, and offline-capable software into a single portable training suite.
The system overlays scenarios onto real-world locations, allowing personnel to practice in environments such as military installations, critical infrastructure sites, and other urban warfare settings.
xReality noted that MR-1 complements its existing OP-2 platform, a rugged case incorporating mock weapons, sensors, headsets, and computing solutions designed for virtual reality training.
“The launch of MR-1 and its first sale to a new US DoD customer show that the capability we built through this R&D program has immediate, broader application across Defense and Law Enforcement,” said Wayne Jones, CEO of xReality Group.
“This is the multiplier effect we have been working toward.”
