The US Navy has awarded AECOM Technical Services Inc. $91.5 million to repair two berthing structures for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.

The firm will provide services for Berths 40 and 41 as well as upgrades to Dry Dock 8 in support of the Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers' maintenance at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia.

The contract will also include AECOM, headquartered in Rockville, MD, support in replacing deteriorated pile systems, fender pile systems, pile caps, cast-in-place concrete systems, and concrete beams.

The deal is part of the wider Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program of the US Navy’s public shipyards.

First presented in 2018, the initial value of the project was $21 million, an investment directed to maintain shipyards utilized for submarines and nuclear aircraft carriers.
