Auriga Space has taken its Hermes containerized electromagnetic launcher through its first field test, moving the system beyond development into real-world conditions.
Hermes is Auriga's answer to a growing mismatch on the battlefield: drone swarms are outpacing the interceptors built to stop them, as missile replenishment is bottlenecked by solid rocket motor production, even as defenders burn through costly munitions on cheap targets.
Firing without propellant from inside a standard shipping container, the Hermes is designed to offer a cheaper, more mobile alternative.
