The US Marine Corps has contracted Polaris Government and Defense for additional MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles , including the 5kW exportable power variant for the first time.

The US Marine Corps (USMC) has contracted Polaris Government and Defense for additional MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles (ULTV), including the 5kW exportable power variant for the first time.

The five-year contract, valued at up to $98 million, covers continued production and delivery of the MRZR Alpha platform. It also includes ongoing support from Polaris’ engineering and logistics teams.

The 5kW variant — capable of supplying 5 kilowatts at 24 volts — allows the vehicle to act as a mobile power source for systems that require large amounts of electricity, including tactical edge computing and air defense systems.

It also enables troops to power forward operating tactical grids during littoral operations without requiring separate generators, while still allowing the vehicle to transport wounded personnel and carry mission-critical supplies.

MRZR Alpha

Polaris designed the MRZR Alpha ULTV for rapid deployment and transportability inside the MV-22 and CH-53 helicopters, supporting high mobility for USMC units in contested environments.

More than 500 MRZR Alpha ULTVs are already in service with the USMC, where they are deployed for various roles, including logistics, medical evacuation, infantry maneuver, aircraft ground refueling, and counter-drone missions. 

Apart from the 5kW configuration, the MRZR Alpha is also offered in the standard 1kW variant for powering lightweight electronics, communication systems, and sensor kits. 

Both systems feature a three-port fused connector that allows simultaneous use of onboard power, whether the vehicle is stationary or moving.

The tactical vehicle has a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms) and an operational range of 225 miles (362 kilometers).

Designed for expeditionary operations, the platform fits four personnel, features 12 inches (30 centimeters) of ground clearance at gross vehicle weight, and rides on 32-inch front and rear tires for improved off-road mobility.
