India’s counter-drone capabilities could soon become more compact, as the country begins developing a new type of 7.62mm bullet designed to take down unmanned aerial systems (UAS) on the frontline.

The anti-drone bullet concept relies on a projectile that explodes into fragments in a controlled pattern after being fired from a rifle.

The round is intended to engage fast-moving UAS used for reconnaissance or strike missions in short-range engagements, potentially supplementing traditional ammunition.
