A ‘Patriot’ Under $1M: Ukraine Builds New Low-Cost Defense System

A Ukrainian firm has begun early-stage efforts to develop a new air defense solution it describes as a low-cost alternative to the American “Patriot” system.

Kyiv-based Fire Point has reached out to European industry partners for the project, which aims to push the cost of intercepting ballistic missiles well below $1 million.

While participating firms were not disclosed, co-founder Denys Shtiliierman said the company is “deeply interested” in exploring radar systems, missile guidance, and communication networks with its partners.
