Elbit Systems has been awarded $600 million to supply advanced capabilities for Australia’s Redback infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
Elbit Systems has been awarded $600 million to supply a sensor suite and advanced protection and fighting capabilities for Australia’s Redback infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
The systems, which will be delivered to Hanwha Defence Australia, are part of the Australian Land 400 Phase 3 Project.
Work will be conducted over the next five years.

The Redback IFV
Developed by South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace Australian subsidiary, the Redback was developed with enhanced performance, firepower, and protection to meet the requirements of the modern battlefield.
The vehicle carries up to 11 people at a maximum speed of 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour and is equipped with a 30mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun.
Australia plans a total investment of $18 to $27 billion to acquire 450 IFVs to replace its M113 armored personnel carriers.
