A New Indonesian USV Brings AI and a 150-Kilogram Warhead to the Fight

The Indonesian Navy is advancing its modernization effort with a new indigenous kamikaze unmanned surface vessel (USV) built to strengthen the country’s maritime strike capabilities.

Engineered by state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL, the USV can reach speeds of up to 55 knots (102 kilometers/63 miles per hour) while carrying a 150-kilogram (331-pound) warhead.

The vessel uses artificial intelligence for autonomous, real-time identification friend or foe (IFF), giving it the ability to distinguish potential targets without relying entirely on remote operators.
