South Korea to Build $36M AI Defense Robotics Hub

South Korea is investing nearly $36 million to establish an AI defense robotics innovation cluster aimed at accelerating the development, testing, and commercialization of next-generation military robots.

The initiative, led by South Chungcheong Province in partnership with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the city of Nonsan, seeks to create a dedicated ecosystem where AI-powered defense technologies can move more quickly from research to deployment.

“This is an important starting point for South Chungcheong to leap forward as a core hub of Korea’s K-defense industry,” said Hong Jong-wan, the province’s administrative vice governor.
