Seoul is linking public and defense AI efforts to strengthen military modernization and industrial coordination.
South Korea is moving to align government, civilian, and military artificial intelligence initiatives under a coordinated national strategy aimed at strengthening defense modernization, industrial competitiveness, and national security capabilities.
According to Asia Today, the effort centers on a new partnership between the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA), which have signed an agreement to link public sector AI transformation with defense AI development.
Officials said the initiative supports Seoul’s goal of positioning South Korea among the world’s top three AI powers, or “AI G3,” while advancing its “Defense Innovation 4.0” modernization push.
