South Korea's largest internet company is expanding into military AI, focusing on sovereign cloud infrastructure and intelligence analysis.
South Korean tech firm Naver has launched a dedicated defense AI task force to adapt its artificial intelligence models and cloud infrastructure for military use.
The initiative comes as defense emerges as a key market for sovereign AI, with governments seeking domestically controlled AI systems to secure sensitive data and reduce reliance on foreign providers.
Led by Naver Cloud chief executive Kim Yu-won, the new unit will explore opportunities to deploy the company’s AI and cloud technologies in military environments.
