South Korea is advancing its military AI ambitions through a new partnership between LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) and LG AI Research to develop super-large AI command-and-control technologies for the battlefield.

According to The Asia Business Daily, the companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly build defense-specific large language models (LLMs), generative AI technologies, and AI agents capable of analyzing battlefield conditions and supporting faster military decision-making.

Under the partnership, LG AI Research will contribute its AI expertise while LIG D&A will integrate the technologies into next-generation command-and-control systems using its experience in defense platforms.
