Japan is moving forward with Tokyo-based Terra Drone Corporation to mass produce its Terra B1 interceptors in an effort to improve the country’s counter-drone capabilities.
The Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) announced the contract after saying the Terra B1 system was the only aircraft among four models to pass strict evaluations, becoming the sole winner to advance to the manufacturing stage.
The development marks the latest step in the country’s Interceptor Drone Rapid Acquisition Program, which focuses on fielding anti-drone solutions that can take on long-range, one-way attack drones like Iran’s Shahed-type systems.
