Quantum Cyber has launched a new US-based subsidiary focused on autonomous warfare and drone defense programs as competition intensifies for Pentagon unmanned systems contracts.
The Nasdaq-listed company said its newly formed Quantum Drones Corporation will serve as the operational arm for future participation in US government procurement.
Incorporated in Nevada, the subsidiary is intended to support the company’s broader push ingo technologies that combine artificial intelligence, drone systems, quantum technologies, and command-and-control capabilities under a single platform.
Quantum Cyber appointed former acting secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Peter O’Rourke as president and director of Quantum Drones Corporation. Robert Liscouski, a former homeland security and critical infrastructure official, was also named director.
O’Rourke said that the new company is meant to “align these technologies with emerging government priorities and pursue opportunities that support long-term national security objectives.”
“The US is entering a new era of defense modernization where autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing will increasingly define strategic advantage,” he said.
Drone-Focused Defense Firms
Several companies have launched or expanded drone-focused defense operations in the US over the past year as military demand for autonomous systems continues to grow.
In April, Jetstream Venture Fund disclosed a possible investment in Shield AI, a company developing autonomous software that enables aircraft and drones to operate without pilots or constant communications.
In March, Neros Technologies announced plans to establish a UK subsidiary and headquarters through an investment of up to $13 million over five years to expand drone production capacity.
Earlier, in August 2025, Puerto Rico-based Red Cat Holdings launched its Blue Ops division to develop modular unmanned surface vessel weapon systems.
