Shield AI and Thunder Tiger have conducted the first on-water swarming test of the Hivemind AI software, using it to control multiple unmanned surface vessels (USVs) during a simulated mission in Taiwan.

Staged in Pingtung, the demonstration saw Hivemind pilot Thunder Tiger’s SeaShark 600 and SeaShark 800 drone boats through a coordinated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance task.

Using maritime radar, imagery, and Automatic Identification System data, the AI autonomously planned waypoints, identified the mission area, detected the target of interest, and coordinated the USV swarm to escort a vessel out of the search zone.
