German armed forces officials took delivery of five Patria 6x6 vehicles as part of two procurement contracts signed in December 2025 under the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
These vehicles are the first of what is expected to be a much larger fleet supplied through agreements across participating nations.
Patria leads development of the CAVS 6x6 system, which provides protected troop transport, command and control, medical evacuation and other combat support roles across a modular, interoperable vehicle family.
Germany’s procurement within CAVS is one of the program’s largest commitments. Through serial contracts worth over 2 billion euros ($2.3 billion), Berlin has agreed to acquire up to 876 Patria 6x6 vehicles in four different variants, including mortar‑equipped and remote‑weapon‑station configurations.
Deliveries will begin this year, with the first locally assembled vehicles expected in 2027 under technology transfer arrangements with German industry partners.
Patria 6x6 Vehicles Globally
Several CAVS member states have already placed significant orders for Patria 6x6 armored vehicles in recent years. In total, Patria has received orders that, including options, could approach nearly 2,000 vehicles, with more than 300 already delivered to date.
Finland, a founding participant, has ordered more than 160 units, with initial vehicles delivered earlier in the decade as part of its fleet modernization efforts.
Latvia has not only procured hundreds of Patria 6x6 vehicles for its own armed forces but has also transferred dozens to Ukraine as military aid. In 2025, the Latvian government confirmed the delivery of 42 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers to Ukrainian forces.
Meanwhile, Sweden has ordered an additional 94 vehicles through the CAVS framework, bringing its total procurement to well over 300 vehicles, with deliveries scheduled through the late 2020s.
Another recent addition to the multinational effort, Denmark, concluded its procedural steps under CAVS and ordered 129 Patria 6x6 vehicles in 2025, with the first deliveries planned soon.
