A new European consortium is developing AI-enabled satellite reconnaissance for faster battlefield targeting cycles.
Europe is moving to expand AI-enabled space targeting capabilities through a new satellite reconnaissance initiative designed to shorten the sensor-to-shooter timeline in modern military operations.
The Künstliche Intelligenz und Raumfahrt-Kompetenz (Artificial Intelligence and Space Competence), or KIRK system, aims to combine space-based surveillance with onboard and ground-based processing to accelerate how military forces detect, identify, and respond to threats.
According to the consortium, the architecture will integrate automated target recognition, multi-sensor fusion, and software-defined satellites capable of adapting to evolving battlefield conditions in real time.
