Known as Twinvis Military Sheltered, the new variant is fully integrated into a containerized shelter and can be used for long-range aerial surveillance.
It can be easily deployed on military carrier vehicles and set up in the field by just two personnel.
The radar also supports self-sufficient operations, thus eliminating the need for troops on-site to manually operate it.
According to Hensoldt, the Twinvis acts as a receiver and locates targets by evaluating reflected signals from third-party transmitters.
“Our fully automated, intelligent signal processing and sensor data fusion opens up an unprecedented possibility for armed forces to conduct covert operations at long range for a wide range of targets up to and including stealth threats,” company official Markus Rothmaier said.
Bolstering Situational Awareness
Hensoldt produces a family of Twinvis passive radars to add a new dimension to the surveillance capabilities of military units.
It has many operational advantages, including remaining undetected due to the absence of any transmitted energy.
Such a feature makes the system almost impossible to jam or eliminate in a targeted strike.
Additionally, the Twinvis can detect enemy stealth aircraft undetectable to conventional radars due to their low observable technology.
