ICEYE, a Finnish space technology company specializing in operating synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellations, has formally established its presence in India.

Its New Delhi office will support the country’s access to space-based intelligence solutions, including exploring collaborations with Indian industry on launch capabilities, electronics and components, and technology to build local capability.

The Finnish firm aims to build in-country production capability to meet India’s defense, surveillance, and environmental monitoring requirements through local sourcing, suppliers, and engineering talent.

"ICEYE India means real engineering and manufacturing capability on the ground. We’re excited to build this together with the government and local partners and to support India as it strengthens its own sovereign intelligence capability,” said company CEO and co-founder Rafał Modrzewski

ICEYE is known for operating the “world's largest and most advanced SAR satellite constellation,” which uses active microwave pulses to scan the Earth's surface through day or night, clouds, fog, and smoke, creating high-resolution images.

The company helps establish sovereign, space-based intelligence technology used for military surveillance, border monitoring, disaster response, and other government missions.

It has an expanded presence in several countries, including Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Ukraine
