Patria has stated that it is prepared to support Lithuania’s plans to potentially join the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program, as the Baltic state approved the acquisition of over 900 Patria 6x6 vehicles.

Launched by Finland and Latvia in 2020, CAVS aims to develop a NATO-standard, cost-effective, and standardized armored vehicle based on Patria’s 6x6 platform through shared procurement, joint product development, and efficient lifecycle management.

The Finnish firm’s support includes transferring the vehicle’s manufacturing expertise to its local partners, strengthening their domestic industry.

According to Patria’s Executive VP of Protected Mobility Jussi Järvinen, the company has already worked with the Lithuanian industry for more than a year.

“We are very pleased with Lithuania's decision to opt for the Patria 6x6 armoured vehicle platform through potential participation in the CAVS program. Our ambition is to build a long-term partnership with Lithuania,” he said.

CAVS Program

The CAVS multinational joint development is open to European and NATO countries, with Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, and Sweden as official participants.

It expanded to seven members in September 2025 with the formal entry of Norway and the UK

Though not a formal program member, Ukraine also operates Patria 6x6 vehicles donated by Latvia, which were sourced and delivered through the CAVS framework.

Each vehicle is built on the Patria 6x6 platform, which features a modular and open architecture design for rapid reconfiguration, as well as enhanced protection and mobility.
