The German military has awarded Rheinmetall a 1.015-billion-euro ($1.18-billion) contract to deliver more than 2,000 military vehicles.
The German Armed Forces has awarded Rheinmetall a 1.015-billion-euro ($1.18-billion) contract to deliver more than 2,000 military logistics vehicles.
Part of a seven-year framework contract for 6,500 vehicles concluded in 2024, the order comprises approximately 1,000 8x8 vehicles (15-ton) and around 1,000 4x4 (3.5-ton) and 6x6 (5-ton) vehicles.
Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles will begin delivering the unprotected vehicles in the first half of 2026, with the majority of deliveries scheduled for completion within the year.
The vehicles are based on the company’s HX family, developed specifically to meet military requirements and characterized by exceptional off-road capability and robustness.
The order follows the supply of more than 1,300 vehicles in 2025 under a 770-million-euro ($894-million) contract awarded to Rheinmetall in August, as part of the framework agreement.
“Thanks to the extensive standardization of the HX vehicle family, the Bundeswehr benefits from considerable synergies in training, operation, and maintenance,” CEO and Chairman of the Board of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Christoph Müller said.
“Our unprotected and protected vehicles are in service worldwide and have proven their reliability under the harshest climatic conditions.”
