Slovak state firm Konstrukta Defence tested the EVA M2 self-propelled artillery system recently.

Slovak state firm Konstrukta Defence has tested the EVA M2 self-propelled artillery system.

It included both shooting and non-shooting tests as part of the cannon qualification process.

The shooting round focused on the 155mm 52 caliber howitzer’s structural strength and stability, while the non-shooting trials included conditions such as steep gradients, trenches, and climbing scenarios.

The M2 comes in a 6×6 configuration compared to the 8×8 EVA, enabling greater mobility.

Mounted on a Tatra chassis, the artillery system boasts of exceptional cross-country capabilities and agility, enabling rapid shoot-and-scoot.

Also known as the BIA, the M2 features an automatic ammunition loading mechanism, which enables direct and indirect firing.

It is equipped with inertial navigation, a muzzle velocity radar, and GPS and can handle up to 20 projectiles and charges at a time to a maximum height of 1000mm.

Additional Features

The howitzer has a firing range of 41 kilometers (25 miles) with ERFB-BB shells and up to 50 kilometers (30 miles) with the rocket-assisted VLAP round, Konstrukta stated on its website.

Its minimum firing range is 5 kilometers (3 miles) and a rate of fire on automatic mode of 5 rounds in the first minute and 13 rounds in the subsequent 3 minutes.

In manual mode, the rate of fire decreases to two rounds per minute.
