Thales is exploring the potential integration of its SpinFire mortar family, including 120mm rifled mortars, into Arquus vehicles under a signed memorandum of understanding.
The collaboration was highlighted by two demonstrators on display at Eurosatory 2026: the 120MC (Mortar Carrier) and the 120mm vehicle-mounted 2R2M (Rifled Recoiled Mounted Mortar).
Under the non-exclusive industrial partnership, both companies will leverage their technical and commercial expertise, particularly in export markets.

Thales is developing a generic portfolio based on its SpinFire family — comprising the 120 MC, 2R2M, and the 120 RT (towed rifled mortar system) — to provide flexible fire-support solutions, including systems suitable for integration on light tactical vehicles.
Launched in 2024, the 120 MC is based on a demonstrator originally co-developed by the Spanish firm Escribano and the Dutch manufacturer Defenture.
It is fitted with Thales’ weapon management system, inertial navigation unit, a 120mm rifled barrel, and associated ammunition, with Escribano providing its deployable arm and Arquus supplying the vehicles.
The 120MC recently completed a demonstration and evaluation campaign conducted by the French Army.
Meanwhile, the 120mm towed mortar-derived 2R2M has been developed by Thales since 1992 and has already been proven on the VAB armored personnel carrier.
