The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded Omnia Training a 2-billion-pound ($2.6-billion) contract to overhaul how British Army units train for modern warfare.
Led by Raytheon UK, the consortium will serve as the service’s Strategic Training Partner and deliver the Army Collective Training Service over 15 years. Omnia also includes Capita, Cervus, Rheinmetall UK, and Skyral.
The companies will introduce an integrated training system combining live exercises with virtual environments, simulation, advanced analytics, and other data-driven tools.
Designed to support training across different locations, the system will allow soldiers and commanders to rehearse complex operations while making greater use of synthetic technologies.
Around 60,000 soldiers are expected to train each year under the program. The contract will also create 270 jobs and sustain another 150 positions.
Raytheon UK managing director James Gray said the system would give soldiers and commanders “a new level of training realism” as well as “set an example for effective collaboration between the army and industry.”
UK Expands Modern Army Training
Recent agreements and overseas exercises have also expanded how and where British troops train. This comes amid concerns that Britain’s military training has not kept pace with changes in modern warfare.
In July, London and Washington signed a new agreement to deepen joint military medical education and training between their armed forces' healthcare organizations.
A month earlier, Canada announced plans to host more than 350 British paratroopers for Exercise Rhino Biz, which will combine drone operations and electronic warfare across a training area four times larger than the UK's biggest military range.
Earlier, in October 2025, British troops tested uncrewed systems and AI alongside Latvian forces during Exercise Forest Guardian.
