Ukraine has ordered six additional TRML-4D radars from German firm Hensoldt to bolster its air defense capabilities amid increasing Russian aggression.
Valued at 100 million euros ($108 million), the high-performance radars will be handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces later this year following training of local operators.
According to company chief executive officer Thomas Müller, the new equipment will further strengthen Kyiv's aerial surveillance.
He said that the TRML-4D can feed into Ukraine's national air situation picture, providing increased protection to its citizens.
“We are pleased to support Ukraine with six additional TRML-4D radars…” Muller stressed. “We are proud to be able to deliver this much-needed equipment at short notice.”
Hensoldt's TRML-4D
Hensoldt’s TRML-4D is built using the most advanced solid state Gallium Nitride Active Electronically Scanned Array sensor technology.
It offers early detection and classification of various types of aerial targets, including aircraft, helicopters, and cruise missiles.
The radar is capable of simultaneously tracking 1,500 targets in a radius of up to 250 kilometers (155 miles).
Additionally, the TRML-4D is designed to operate in complex clutter environments and high target densities.
