Finnish defense company Patria has signed multiple agreements with Czech state-owned defense organizations as Prague nears its adoption of a new 8x8 armored vehicle fleet.
The deals, signed with the Military Technical Institute, the Military Research Institute, and defense firm VOP CZ, aim to boost local industry participation and support long-term development, production, and sustainment capabilities inside the NATO country.
Patria noted that the partnerships are designed to ensure broad involvement from both state-owned and private Czech companies if its platform is selected for the initiative.
“We see Czech companies as strong partners, including for the global supply chain,” said Jussi Järvinen, executive vice president of the protected mobility division at Patria.
“By combining our experience in technology transfer with the capabilities of Czech private and state-owned enterprises, we can deliver an efficient and sustainable solution that strengthens security of supply and meets the Czech Armed Forces’ requirements.”
Offering ‘Proven’ Solutions
Prague’s modernization effort calls for more than 250 armored vehicles to replace the 2000s-era Pandur II 8x8 fleet.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2029 once the acquisition receives final approval.
Patria’s bid for the program is the AMV XP 8x8 CZ platform, a localized version of the company’s flagship Armored Modular Vehicle designed to meet NATO standards and support future upgrades.
