A US tech company is positioning a compact, high-energy laser (HEL) system as a cost-conscious solution against increasingly sophisticated drone swarms.

The “Crossbow Mini HEL,” produced by Massachusetts-based IPG Photonics, reportedly takes down Group 1 and 2 drones independently or in coordination with multiple units via command-and-control networks and radar platforms.

It aims to protect critical facilities, including military sites, government buildings, and port complexes, where unauthorized drones could disrupt operations or threaten personnel and assets.
