Romania has contracted Iveco Defence Vehicles to supply a third batch of 860 military tactical trucks.

Romania has contracted Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) to supply a third batch of 860 military tactical trucks.

The award is part of a framework agreement signed in 2019 for the delivery of 2,900 high-mobility trucks to the Romanian Armed Forces.

A total of 942 vehicles were delivered in the first phase, while 1,107 trucks were delivered in the second phase between 2023 and 2026.

Delivery under the third phase is scheduled over the next three years.

“The production and delivery of these additional 860 High Mobility trucks is the demonstration of IDV’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Romanian Armed Forces, as well as its full cooperation and integration within Romania’s industrial ecosystem,” IDV stated.

The trucks being delivered under the framework contract include four configurations of military logistics platforms: 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and 8×8 prime mover.

These are further divided into 16 variants, including cargo carriers, armored personnel/troop transport vehicles, hook-lift/load handling systems, recovery vehicles, tank transporters (prime movers), command post, and ambulance vehicles, and other specialized logistics support platforms.

Approximately one-third of the vehicles are equipped with an armored cab.

The trucks feature a central tire inflation system, blackout lights, self-recovery winches, and tactical axles, enabling enhanced off-road mobility, strong fording capability, and C-130 air transportability for reliable support across a range of military operations.
