South Korea Picks Hanwha’s Arion-SMET for Landmark UGV Acquisition

A six-wheeled, all-electric platform from Hanwha Aerospace has emerged as the first unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) acquisition under the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army’s modernization effort.

Known as Arion-SMET, the platform is designed to serve as a battlefield force multiplier by handling dangerous missions while reducing soldiers’ exposure to threats.

It features autonomous navigation and a “follow-me” mode that allows it to accompany troops during logistics resupply and cargo transport operations.
