Ukrainian Praktika has signed an agreement with Spain’s Tecnove and Escribano to jointly produce armored vehicles in Spain.
Ukrainian manufacturer Praktika has signed a memorandum of understanding with Spain’s Tecnove and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering to jointly produce armored vehicles in Spain.
In addition to multi-purpose armored vehicles, the partnership encompasses fire support platforms, specialized models including ambulances, electronic warfare and command-and-staff vehicles, and non-militarized armored systems for demining tasks and the safe transportation of explosives.
The initiative represents the first armored-vehicle co-production project undertaken by Praktika and the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine — an association comprising over 75 private companies — with Spanish partners on EU territory.
The memorandum aims to integrate the parties’ expertise in specialized and military automotive production and to pursue the joint development and manufacture of armored vehicles in Spain for the EU, Ukraine, and other partner nations.
"For us, this is a logical step — to transfer the combat experience of Ukrainian armored vehicles into joint production chains with partners from the EU,” Director of Praktika Yulia Vysotska said.
“Cooperation with Tecnove and Escribano will allow us to simultaneously strengthen the Defense Forces of Ukraine and provide allies with modern, battle-tested solutions."
Joint Production Facility
The joint production effort will be based at a 25,000-square-meter (269,098-square-foot) industrial facility in Herencia, in Spain’s Madrid region, a site recently developed by Tecnove for defense and security-related manufacturing.
The site will carry out large-unit assembly of armored and other specialized vehicles using components sourced from Praktika’s production facilities in Ukraine. The finished platforms will be supplied both to Ukraine and for Spain’s operational needs.
For the Ukrainian defense industry, the project integrates Ukrainian combat solutions into European production chains, expands serial armored vehicle production while keeping key competencies at home, and strengthens the role of private producers in EU and NATO programs.
