Leonardo has secured a 320-million-euro ($370-million) contract to supply naval combat systems for Kuwait’s Al Dorra missile boat program.
The agreement with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) covers next-generation combat systems for the Falaj-3 missile boat configuration being developed for the Kuwait Navy.
ADSB, the naval arm of EDGE Group, is leading the program.
Leonardo said the deal strengthens its long-running partnership with EDGE and ADSB, which has included work on more than 25 naval platforms over the past two decades.
Under the contract, the Italian company will provide combat management and naval defense technologies designed to support maritime surveillance, missile defense, and broader naval operations.
Leonardo described the contract as part of a broader push to position integrated warship management and combat system capabilities in international markets.
Kuwait Expands Naval Defense Programs
The Al Dorra program comes as the Gulf state continues investing in naval modernization programs tied to maritime security, regional deterrence, and protection of strategic shipping routes.
In April, Singapore’s ST Engineering secured a $467-million subcontract from ADSB to design and supply systems for eight missile gunboats for the Kuwait Naval Force.
In September 2025, Kuwait’s army chief of general staff Khaled Al-Sharian pledged to modernize the country’s naval capabilities.
Earlier, in June 2025, EDGE Group signed a $2.45-billion contract to supply Kuwait with eight Falaj-3 naval patrol vessels.
