The ongoing diplomatic spat between the United States and Turkey has had no impact on U.S. military operations, U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson Colonel Rob Manning said in a briefing on Tuesday.
“There is no current impact on operations,” Manning told reporters.
The diplomatic spat between Washington and Ankara escalated over the weekend when both countries announced they were indefinitely suspending visa services in host countries.
The United States made the move after Turkish authorities arrested a communications officer at the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, accusing him of espionage.
The U.S. has some 2,500 troops in Turkey. Most of them, along with some civilian personnel, are stationed at Incirlik Air Base in the south of the country.
