Oman’s Ministry of Defense has procured “several” vessels from Bangkok-based shipbuilder Marsun as part of the government’s naval fleet expansion.
Signed by Omani Defense Ministry Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Za’abi in Muscat, the contract ordered undisclosed types of ships that are expected to “boost the capabilities of the Royal Navy of Oman.”
The country's official news agency reported that the acquisition aligns with the “development and modernization plans” of Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the defense ministry and the broader Omani Armed Forces.
To date, Marsun has supplied more than 355 configurations of vessels for domestic and international customers.
Such platforms include fast patrol craft, fast attack missile craft, logistics ships, and multi-purpose boats.
Alongside production, the Thai company provides repair and design services for “wide-ranging requirements.”
Thailand Military Vehicle Export to Pakistan
Marsun’s deal with Oman follows Thailand’s signing of an agreement in November to distribute approximately 100 Chaiseri Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles to Pakistan.
These 4x4 systems will be produced partially within Pakistan in partnership with Thai defense contractors.
The vehicle is commonly used for troop movement and protection across battlefields with active explosives.
