The memorandum of understanding establishes a framework for cooperation on naval defense solutions, including development, integration, and commercialization opportunities for future maritime programs.
According to the companies, the partnership combines TKMS’ submarine and naval shipbuilding experience with Elbit Systems’ capabilities in defense electronics, sensors, and autonomous technologies.
Neither company disclosed specific platforms or contracts linked to the agreement. But both said the collaboration is intended to address emerging maritime security requirements and support long-term industrial cooperation between Germany and Israel.
“In today’s complex security environment, close collaboration between like-minded partners is essential to ensuring stability and resilience,” TKMS CEO Oliver Burkhard said.
Naval Defense Partnerships Expand
Recent years have seen a wave of naval defense collaborations involving European and allied defense firms, particularly around submarines, autonomous systems, and maritime surveillance.
In May, Saab and Poland’s Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa agreed to expand cooperation on naval platforms, including submarines, surface vessels, and underwater systems, while integrating PGZ’s naval entities into Saab’s supply chain and pursuing joint export opportunities.
In April, Fincantieri and KAYO launched a partnership aimed at building 10 naval vessels by 2030 for the Albanian Navy and export markets. That same month, Brazil’s Navy signed a cyber defense cooperation deal with the UAE’s EDGE.
Earlier, in March, Navantia presented Denmark with a naval cooperation proposal centered on local industry participation, lifecycle support, and Spanish Navy-backed training.
