California-based Marine Group Boat Works has delivered an Advanced Range Support Vessel to the US Navy, expanding the military’s afloat capability for testing next-generation weapons at sea.
California-based Marine Group Boat Works has delivered an Advanced Range Support Vessel to the US Navy, expanding the military’s afloat capability for testing next-generation weapons at sea.
Constructed at the company’s shipyard in Chula Vista, the custom craft will support offshore defense evaluations using its open aft deck designed to deploy aerial and surface targets.
Tasks will be assisted by the vessel’s onboard hydraulic crane for target recovery.
Assembly and validation of the aluminum boat centered on the American Bureau of Shipping's commercial standards, with further inspections delivered by the US Coast Guard.
Once operational, the platform will be used by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division for activities at Point Mugu Sea Range in Southern California.
