Lockheed’s Next-Gen Missile Warning Satellite Survives Stress Test, Nears Liftoff

Lockheed Martin has wrapped up key environmental testing on the first of its next-gen missile warning satellites, keeping the program on track for launch as global missile threats continue to evolve.

Known as GEO Block 0, the satellite is designed to detect ballistic missiles, hypersonics, and other advanced threats from geosynchronous orbit, or about 22,000 miles (35,400 kilometers) above Earth.

It is built on Lockheed’s LM 2100 combat bus, a hardened spacecraft engineered to resist cyberattacks and counter-space weapons.
